1. Skyline and Lakefront Views
Let’s start with the obvious: the views. The Museum Campus offers some of the best vantage points in the city. This lakefront location gives you the widest view from Navy Pier all the way down to the Shedd Aquarium on top of the great water of Lake Michigan.
2. Shedd Aquarium Steps
The steps of the Shedd Aquarium are a classic spot for couples who want elegance with a touch of old-world charm. The grand stone staircase and stately columns scream timeless romance. Add in the lake and skyline for a breathtaking backdrop that’s sure to make your photos frame-worthy.
3. Adler Planetarium
The Adler Planetarium sits at the perfect spot for panoramic views of the city. Although popular amongst tourist and locals, theirs enough space to give a sense of “world just for us” vibe. Even more so, there’s area off to the southern side of the planetarium to get even more privacy if needed. Whether you’re twirling in the golden hour light or sneaking a kiss under the cosmos. This is a nice little area to get that vision into your photos.
Tips for your shoot
- Timing Matters: Golden hour (just before sunset) is your best friend for soft, flattering light.
- Best Time of Year: Avoid the winter at all cost in my opinion. Chicago’s wind really amps up the chill. Spring and Fall are questionable for that reason. Otherwise summer all the way.
- Uber it if you can: If you’re early and patient enough to look for street parking, drive on down. Otherwise an Uber is a pretty good idea.
