Wedding Photography: What Matters and Doesn’t

Overall anything and everything matters on your wedding day. From the invitations to the little party favors you leave for your guests. It's all about the details. Although in itself may have a different point of view in priorities.

Getting The Most Out Of Your Wedding Photography Investment

Some photos go without saying. Your portraits, the first kiss, bridal party photos, family photos, first dance. There may be some things that are also a part of what you envision for this day that will be significant to you than others. They might not be what you have thought of, but it’s worth mentioning because we can’t think about it all. When it comes down to it. You make the call.

What May Be Important To You

The can vary from one couple to couple to another but we can lay down some of the most common parts of a wedding day and what people tend to envision to cherish for a long time.

  • The bride’s details such as the wedding dress, flowers and accessories that you took time into putting together
  • The groom’s details. While not as much as the bride, some thing like the boutonniere watch or gifts are valuable
  • Heirlooms are also a huge piece of family history
  • Robe shots which can be fun
  • The First Look – this can range from not only your fiancé, but your family or maybe part of your bridal party
  • Receiving line of the guests if that’s part of what you’re used to
  • Table photos of all the guests you’ve invited
  • Out of town guest that could be from work or school you went to
  • Special event like an anniversary dance as an example of something additional planned to the night

You’ve Probably Don’t Need to Worry About

While there are so many thing that have come up to this point of planning. You can probably do without having so many pictures of something that doesn’t hold as much importance as everything else you’ve been looking forward to remembering.

  • Getting Ready – Not necessarily the Mom zipping up the dress part, but the ladies getting their makeup or hair done. you may want a couple pictures but had to chose to squeeze in a few shots in your album between that or your beautiful portraits. I don’t think make up session will compare.
  • Cocktail hour – this is depending on your time constraints. Unless you have a second shooter or have the timeline pretty well extended to include that time. You can due away with it, especially if you’re going to have additional photos of guests later.
  • Dancing – Yes, you want to remember that you and your guests had fun through the night, but if you squeezed so much into the first portion of your day that there’s time to spare. I don’t think you’re going to have so much to cherish with 2 to 3 hours of dancing.

You Call The Shots At Overall

Your photographer wants to capture the valuable emotions and significant memories of your wedding. Making sure that you’re happy with the outcome and having no regrets. It will be a day that will fly by, so it’s important to go over the items you can and can’t live without. When it comes to it, no matter how inconvenient or insignificant it may be, you’re the boss of this day.
